Frequently Asked Questions...

There is no such thing as a silly question ! If you can't find what you are looking for here, just email us at info@kingfishersbendfarm.com we are happy to help !

What is the process of purchasing?

After you have submitted a request for quote we like to give you a call to talk you through the process of purchasing Premium Angus or F1 Wagyu in either 1/4, half or whole beast options - after all this is a different way to purchase meat! Once we have received your deposit, we then allocate you your desired portion of the beast and a delivery week. Once we have processed your beast we get sent the dressed weight information from the Coop - this is when we send you out an invoice for your final amount. Once you have paid your invoice (this needs to be cleared into our account at least 2 business days prior to delivery) we contact you with delivery day and timeframe.

What size options do you have?

We sell Premium Angus and F1 Wagyu in 1/4, half or whole beast options. Each beast will vary slightly but you can expect dressed weights to be around 60kgs for a quarter, 125kgs for Half beast and 250kgs for whole beast. These sizes can vary between 10-20%.

What do I get in these sizes?

We have a set cut-list for our 1/4 and half beast options. It is only when you purchase a whole beast that we can customise your cut list and preferences (this is quite fun and interesting- let us know if you want to try this!).

In each size option you will receive :

Hindquarter Cuts:

- Sirloin (whole)
- Eye Fillet (whole)

- Rump (whole)
- BBQ sizzle steaks

- Roast
- Corned Silverside

Forequarter Cuts:
- Rib Fillet (whole)
- Brisket
- Blade Roast
- Diced beef
- Flat Iron steak (whole)
- Ribs for Smoking
- Osso Buco (in steaks) -Mince
- Thin Sausages (Bags of 12 sausages)

- Bones (for marrow, soup & broth)

What are in your sausages?

Our sausages are 80% meat from your beast and 20% fat and sausage meal. Our sausages are gluten free. In the sausage meal there are some sodium based preservatives.

How long will my meat last?

Your meat has been dry aged & hung to ensure it is perfectly tender when it arrives at your door. It is recommended that you place your sausages, mince and bones directly into the freezer, and then remaining cuts (except Corned Silverside) within a few days of receiving it to maintain optimal freshness. Leave your corned silverside in the fridge for 1 week prior to freezing it.

If you store the cryovaced packets in your freezer, keeping them sealed and maintaining a consistently frozen temperature, our meat is expected to stay fresh for up to 12 months.

Best way to defrost your meat is to place it in the refrigerator the night before you wish to enjoy it! We don’t recommend placing it in hot water, microwave or on hot surfaces to defrost - this will compromise the taste and tenderness (in our experience).

What is marbling in meat?

Marbling refers to the presence of intramuscular fat (IMF) within and between muscle fibers, appearing as delicate specks of fat. Beef Marbling Score (BMS) is a system used to grade the quality of beef based on the amount of IMF in the meat. The BMS ranges from 1 to 12, with 12 being the highest grade.

Although our meat will not be professionally graded with each order we do anticipate that for our Premium Angus herd to be scored between BMS # 2 to BMS #4 .
Our F1 Wagyu herd we anticipate it to be between BMS #4 to BMS # 7.
There are several factors that influence how each beast will individually marble and despite all our efforts to control these factors, each beast IMF will vary along with their BMS.

How does delivery work?

Our Products are transported direct from the butcher’s facility in a refrigerated truck to your delivery address.

We will contact you the week of your delivery to allocate you a three hour timeframe. You can request that our farm Manager contact you when he is on route to your house - just let us know.

To ensure you receive quality, fresh and tender meat we strongly recommend someone be home to place it in the fridge/ freezer immediately upon arrival.

As we personally deliver your meat from our cold trailer (not a third party provider) once it is delivered it is at your risk. After delivery, the condition and consumption of the Products are totally at your risk, and you are solely responsible for the proper and safe washing, handling, preparation, storage, cooking, use and consumption of the Products following delivery.

What is dressed weight?

We determine your price based on the 'dressed weight' of the carcass, which may differ slightly from the actual amount of beef you receive, known as the 'delivered weight.' Weight loss during the butchering process to create ready-to- cook cuts is normal & to be expected.

Our process involves processing the entire animal, and this includes the inclusion of some bones in the overall cost of your order. You'll receive all the good, usable bones in your delivery, suitable for making incredible bone broth and/or incorporating them into soups. Don't forget our canine friends who can also enjoy the dog bones. However, all bones are suitable for human consumption.

If you calculate the price based on the 'delivered weight,' you'll discover that Kingfishers Bend Farm offers outstanding quality meat for great value. Our beef is not only of superior quality but also much healthier for your family compared to supermarket options. By choosing us, you're not just enjoying excellent beef; you're also supporting a local farming family.

Cancellation Policy?

Our farm operates with a strong commitment to minimising waste, ensuring a sustainable and customer- focused approach. When you place an order, we ask for a deposit to secure your commitment to the purchase. This deposit helps us plan and allocate resources efficiently.

Once you've paid the deposit, we select or allocate an animal specifically for your order. This tailored process is designed to match our farming practices with your unique preferences.

By placing an order and paying the deposit, you're telling us that you understand what you've ordered, agree to pay the final invoice, and are ready to receive your meat during the agreed delivery day.

Cancellation requests are taken seriously. If you decide to cancel after paying the deposit, the deposit amount is forfeited, and you won't receive the ordered meat. We kindly ask that you only place an order if you're certain about your purchase to respect our commitment to minimising waste and valuing our precious cattle resources.
